Introduction
As you get ready to draw conceptual massing elements, you first need to understand how to set the work plane for the profiles you build from. Revit uses levels, existing faces and reference planes as work planes on which to sketch geometry for solid and void forms.

Change the Work Plane of a Sketch or Form
- Select the sketch or form.
- In the Options Bar, click Show host. The host work plane highlights.
- In the Host drop-down list, select a new host for the sketch. The sketch moves to the selected plane.

Each method uses sketched 2D profiles as the basis for the 3D shape.
