AutoCAD has so many ways to access certain commands, including keyboard shortcuts, ribbon icons, drop-down and right click menus. However, if users are not comfortable with those methods commands can be searched for within the Application menu.
Simply start typing in a command and a list of potential candidate commands will appear in the list. These items are effectively hyperlinks and will take users to the desired command.
In the example image above the link will access the External References manager, where files can be attached, detached and reloaded as required. Whilst this method is not the quickest way to access commands when working, it is a useful method to new users to access more advanced or lesser-known commands and get familiar with the software, before using faster methods like keyboard shortcut and right-click menu options.
This facility is available for all flavours of AutoCAD including Civil 3D, Plant and AutoCAD LT.
