Following up on requests from some of our users for multicored armoured cables with the CPC as a Core-in-Cable, these cable types have been added to the latest version of the cable database and can be found at the end of the ‘Cable Types’ list.
Here there are:
Cu LSZH multicore - BS8573 XLPE-Low Smoke Zero Halogen (CPC is Core in Cable)
Cu XLSF A &c - XLPE armoured cable with low smoke & fumes sheath (CPC is Core in Cable)
Cu XLPE A &c - XLPE armoured cable with PVC sheath (CPC is Core in Cable)
When setting up a multicored armoured cable that has the CPC as a Core-in Cable, simply select the ‘CPC Details’ as ‘Normal’. The calculations & schedules etc will do the rest e.g. For a TP&N supply/load, if you select the cable type as ‘Cu XLSF A &c’, 4-Core 35mm² with a ‘Normal’ CPC, the CPC will also be 35mm². Additionally, the earth path (Zs) calculations will be using the combination of the paralleled Zs for the armouring (which is always earthed at the glands etc) and the Core-in Cable CPC. This will result in improved Zs values, as compared to a 4-core 35mm² using a supplementary CPC.
The latest version of the Cable DB is the BS7671 18th + ERA 2022 which has the addition of the Cu XLPE A &c cable type. When starting a new Wiring pr4ject, this database will be the default Cable DB for your project.
