In this ‘How To’ tutorial, we will learn how to Manage Numbered Streets in the DynamicMaps Address & Street Management Application.
When editing the geometry of a Named Street that is associated to a Numbered Street you must consider how changing the geometry of the Named Street will affect the associated Numbered Street.
Reshape Named Street
In this example, we will edit the shape of one of the ESUs on Charlesfield (Named Street) which is currently associated to a Numbered Street (B226).
Having opened the edit page for the associated Street record (USRN) we can view the Street record in the map.
We will edit the shape of one of the ESUs that make up the Charlesfield Street record. To identify the ESU records, so we correctly reshape an ESU associated to the Numbered Street, tick to display the All ESUs layer and click on the ESU line to view their details in a bubble.
We can see that the ESUID (541475172180) matches one assocated to the Numbered Street.
Now open the Drawing Tools to edit the Street record, and choose the Reshape button.
Left click on the Street record and you you can stretch any existing vertex to a new location….
… and or add additional vertices onto the line to reshape it as required.
Having reshaped the Street record, choose the Save button to commit the changes to the system.
If we now Refresh the Edit Streets Page, we can see the geometry of the Named Street has been updated and the Length Value auto updated.
And if we view the associated Numbered Street record, again we see the geometry of the Numbered Street has changed and the Length value auto updated from 971.37 to 981.86.
Note – in this example by editing the shape of associated ESUs, where you do not move the location of the Start or End vertex, the geometry of the associated Numbered Street is auto updated and the task is completed. The Numbered Street will have the same ESUIDs associated to it.
