In this ‘How To’ tutorial, we will learn how to Manage Numbered Streets in the DynamicMaps Address & Street Management Application.
When editing the geometry of a Named Street that is associated to a Numbered Street you must consider how changing the geometry of the Named Street will affect the associated Numbered Street.
Add Parts to a Street Record and manage associated Numbered Street
If we Add a Part of Street geometry to a Named Street that should be attached to the geometry of the associated Numbered Street then we need to manage that relationship. For example, here is the current Named Street geometry for Charlesfield.
Using the Drawing Tools, we will Add a New Part to extend the Street as needed.
Once the Part is added and the map is saved, the length of the Named Street updates to now include the Added Part, here from 344.2 to 399.97.
If we view the Street Xref tab, we can see that the new ESUID has been attached to the Named Street. However it is not currently linked to any other Street (USRN). Whereas the other ESUs are linked to our Numbered Street (B226).
Note down or copy the value of the ESUID – 541423172209 – and then open the edit page for the Numbered Street record that we want to associate it to. Currently there are 15 ESUs associated to this Numbered Street.
Choose the Attach Xref ESU button…
… and use the ESUID to search for the new ESU that we created.
Tick to select the ESU and choose Attach…
.. and the Street Xref tab is updated to show that the new ESU is now associated to the Numbered Street and the count of ESUs is now 16.
If we now view the Numbered Street edit page, we can see that the new ESU has been added into the Street geometry in the map, and the length of the Numbered Street has automatically been updated from 1160.67. to 1216.44.
