In QGIS 3.40 and onwards its very easy to quickly resize the width of columns to fit the data within those columns.
Previously you would have had to manually resize the columns by dragging the columns to make them wider.
Now you can right click on a column heading and choose Autosize.
… that field will automatically resize to fit the column heading and the values for that field.
And by right clicking and choosing Autosize all Columns…
… this will resize all the Columns in your table to fit the data in each column. Notice below where the area_name field has also resized to fit the data.
