Question:
Why is my Drawing Layer greyed out in the MapThat Drawing Tools Layer list?
Answer:
If you choose the MapThat Drawing Tool and look in the Edit Layers list, you may find 1 or many layers greyed out.
The reason for this is that in the Layer Settings, the layer (in this example Liverpool Planning Apps Sql – All Data) is not visible at the current Map Zoom level which means we don’t want our users to choose to edit this layer as it will be auto added and shown within the map.
In this example, the layer settings only allow this layer to show at a Min Zoom Level of 16, because there are so many planning apps, if we were to show them at a higher zoom it will take too long for the map to render!
So, we have now added logic so that only Layers whose Min and Max Zoom Levels are within the current Map Zoom Level can be chosen from the Edit Layers menu. Those not within the Min or Max Zoom Level will be greyed out.
However, if the users choose to zoom closer into the map, for example to zoom level 18, the Planning Apps layer is now un-greyed out and available to choose….
… and the user can now start editing this layer!
