Question:
How can you show the Child Addresses for a Parent Address in the Cadline Address & Street Management Application?
Answer:
Addresses can be related as Parent, Child, Grandchild etc… So, one common task in your Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) is to find all Child Addresses related to a pre-existing Parent Address. For example, where you have a Parent Address e.g., the main building for a block of flats, you may wish to find all Child records which are the apartments in that block.
In the DynamicMaps Address & Street Management application, choose the Addresses menu from the left.
This will present the Address table listing all the Addresses in your LLPG.
Note – any Child Address records will have the yellow Parent UPRN tab below the record.
In order to find the Child Addresses associated to a specific Parent Address use the Search options above the Address table, to find that Parent Address using their UPRN value.
The result of the Search will be the one Parent Address record.
However, as we have searched for one Address record using the UPRN, we are only viewing the Parent Address and not the associated Child records.
So,.. in the Search this time tick the box called Show Grouped Parents and run the Search on the UPRN again.
.. this time we will find and show the Parent Address record and a Plus button will be rendered below the Parent Address….
…, which when pressed will show the associated Child Address records as well.
Note – counting the Address records in the list, there are 13 records – 1 Parent Address and 12 Child Addresses.
You can also find Child Address records by using the PARENT UPRN option with the Search menu.
Running the search on the Parent UPRN, will then list all Child Address records linked to the Parent UPRN without having to find the Parent first!
Note – this time there are only 12 Address records, as the Parent UPRN is not listed.
