Question:
Is it possible to synchronise changes made to a Parent Address to their Child records in the Cadline Address & Street Management Application?
Answer:
If you wish to make edits to multiple Child records, you can use the Synchronise option.
Note – the Synchronise option is only available if you are viewing a Parent Address record, as it synchronises the changes in the Parent record to the associated Child records. Only Child records where the LPI status is Approved will be updated.
Firstly, let’s find a Parent UPRN Address record for example we can search by UPRN value e.g., 10094613089.
We can synchronise changes to both the BLPU details and the LPI details. So, firstly let’s change the Ward value in the BLPU record.
Ensure you Save the changes to the BLPU details.
Next, we can edit the LPI record associated to the Parent record. Here we will use the edit pencil icon to open the LPI record into edit mode.
In this example we will edit the Postcode value to be N4 3HZ in the LPI detail, choosing the green tick to save the changes.
Having saved the changes to the BLPU and the LPI details for the Parent record, choose the Synchronise button.
A new window will open allowing you to choose the BLPU and LPI details that you wish to Synchronise.
In this example, we will tick the Ward and Postcode details, and then choose the Synchronise fields button.
Note – only Approved LPI Child records will be updated. So, Candidate, Provisional and Historic records will not be updated.
Once successful the following message will identify how many Child records were updated.
If we now search for addresses with the same Parent UPRN.
We can see in the Address table, that the associated Child Address records have all been updated. As per the below we can see the Ward Name has been changed for each one.
And if we edit the BLPU record, and view the LPI details for each Child Address, the postcode value has been auto updated as well.
The Synchronise Fields option in the Cadline Address & Street Management application is a great way to update the Child Address records in your LLPG using one bulk update… saving you valuable time!
