Question:
Is it possible to reset the Geometry of a BLPU record using the Address & Street Management Application?
Answer:
Yes, if you have incorrectly drawn the extents of your BLPU record, or if you wish to simply update the existing BLPU extent boundary, the DynamicMaps Address & Street Management application provides a Reset Geometry button to enable you to do this.
Having chosen the Addresses Module, find your BLPU record…
… and choose the Edit BLPU button to open the record in edit mode.
The BLPU record will open, with the current geometry for the BLPU shown in the map window on the right-hand side. In this example the BLPU geometry covers just the outline of the building.
To remove this polygon geometry and create it again, simply choose the Reset Geom button in the BLPU Details pane on the left-hand side.
The application will check that you are happy to proceed, with a message stating that the current Polygon geometry will be removed. Choose OK to continue.
Note - the BLPU point will not be deleted.
The map window will auto refresh and show you that the existing polygon geometry has now been reset.
To start editing and create the new BLPU geometry, choose the ellipse edit icon (three dots) to the top right of the map.
The map will then re-open in Edit mode, showing the Edit Tools (Pencil) button above the Show Layers panel.
Having clicked the Edit Tools icon, now choose the Drawing Tools sub menu.
The Drawing Tools panel opens to the left of the map.
You could start drawing the BLPU polygon free hand by using the Draw Polygon tool….
.. however, for accuracy let’s tick the ENABLE SNAPPING option, and choose to snap to the OS Mastermap Layer.
From the Drawing tools panel and the Create sub menu, choose the Draw Polygon tool and it will have a red line around it.
In the map left click to start drawing the new BLPU boundary, using the Ordnance Survey Mastermap basemap to snap to the existing building and fence lines.
Once you complete the new feature, it will turn green in the map canvas.
To save the update, simply press the Save Button in the Drawing tools panel.
Once the change is saved, the map will update, and the new BLPU extent boundary is shown as a red outline.
