If you unexpectedly get an error message on the start-up of, or shortly after launching AutoCAD Electrical entitled “A software problem has caused AcePmComServer to close unexpectedly", please follow the steps listed below.
Solution 1:
- Launch AutoCAD Electrical, open a new drawing and type OPTIONS
- If a Customer Error Report (CER) dialogue pops up after launch, dismiss the dialogue or ignore the dialogue by repositioning elsewhere on the screen so that you continue with the steps. - In the Options dialogue, select the Files tab, expand the section Support File Search Path
-
Select
to add a new entry with the Microsoft Office path of C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16
-
Click
to save and close the dialogue.
- Restart AutoCAD Electrical
Note: If the issue is still not fixed, please try Solution 2 mentioned below.
Solution 2:
- Uninstall standalone Access Database Engine
- Download and reinstall standalone Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016 (64 bit version)
If the error message is not dismissed, it can be repositioned elsewhere on the screen (or onto another screen, when multiple monitors are in use) and all AutoCAD Electrical functionality will remain unaffected. Ignoring the message in this way requires the least amount of effort to continue using the product.
