With the current COVID-19 epidemic, the ability to utilise spatial analysis tools to map Health related datasets is now more important than ever. In the last few days we have been sourcing Health Care Data from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and created new Health Care Data Layers in our web mapping application – TryMapThat.
These Health Care Data Layers were downloaded from the CQC website into XLS format, mapped into GIS format using QGIS, uploaded into a PostGIS Spatial Database and then styled and published as Web Map Server (WMS) Layers using GeoServer.

Below are some of the Health Care Layers we have now loaded into our Web Mapping Application – MapThat. Each new Layer is loaded into the new Health Care Tree Header revealed from the left hand panel. Simply tick each Health Care Layer to reveal the features in the Map and then left click on any features to reveal their attributes e.g. Practice Name, Location, Rating ….
