The parametric PLC functionality is fantastic for automatically creating symbols. By defining parameters, AutoCAD® Electrical will automatically create the symbol from predefined symbols associated with the termination type and the PLC style. However the word “PLC” could be deemed as misleading to the functionality as the function can also be used for engine management, HVAC monitoring, remote telemetry units, intelligent annunciators and anything else that acts like a PLC.
In the detailed video below, a National Instruments device is added into the “PLC” database as an example.
