I noticed this little issue working on Revit today, and although users may suspect the hardware acceleration option on the graphics options this is not actually the case.
The selection issue is actually a function of the new filter selection options that ship with the new version of the software. Turning off the Underlay Filter enables selection of Architectural Elements, even though these are not ‘under laid’ elements as such.
These are the buttons in the bottom right hand corner of the Revit Interface.

Ensure that the red cross toggle is off!
