No, I am not talking about what to have for a Friday night takeaway, but recently one of my training delegates reported strange characters on their Revit system when opening a contractor’s project. This action seemed to upset their system and from that moment on Revit’s menu displayed a foreign language for all other files!
This is just a localisation issue and can easily be fixed from the command line of the target application. The product in question is Revit, but similar switches also exist for other programs like AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT.
On the desktop icon, right click and check the command line properties. Look for a switch ‘/language’. For UK users there will be a country code, ENG. If it displays a different code or number, change it to ENG. Once altered run Revit and the normal ribbon interface should be restored!
Some common country codes are:
- United States - ENU
- United Kingdom - ENG
- France - FRA
- Germany - DEU
- Spain - ESP
To implement changes, users may require local power user/administrator rights on their login.
