When working in Revit, whatever the discipline, there is a requirement to align and organise components, notes and tags in such a way that the output will look neat and easy to read when exported to paper or digital output. Whilst Revit does have an alignment tool and some capabilities to line up tags and text neatly, it is beneficial to have additional options at times.
Additional functionality can be added via Revit’s API (programming) environment. The Align add-in by BIM 42 enables users to align, distribute or organise selected elements, annotations, tags and text along a specified axis. Furthermore, the add-in’s Arrange feature will automatically neatly place any tags around the current view.
By providing additional options for Revit’s out-of-the box alignment tools saves time when working on complex drawings with large sets of annotation and equipment components.
The add-in is available for Revit versions 2019-24 and is a free download from Autodesk’s app store. Some additional functions like publishing sheets to DWG can be accessed with a subscription along with a donation option.
The Add-in is available from the app store here.
