Introduction
Phases in Revit are used to simplify the creation of Renovation or Multi-Phases projects.
Instead of manually drafting dashed lines to represent demolished walls, using phases automates the process and produce the correct graphic representation much more easily.
The Phase Demolished Tool
To demolish elements in a phase, you must use the Demolish tool located on the Modify tab.
Click on the elements you want to demolish, and they will be marked as demolished in the current
phase.
Location for the Phase Demolished / Hammer Tool.
Taking the demolition plan above as an example, we see here a wall and door, applying the demolition tool to the door flags the door as demolished in the demolition phase and overrides the appearance to dashed. In shaded view, the wall appears in red.
Tool Tip for the Phase Demolished / Hammer Tool
When you hover over tool buttons on the ribbon panels, Revit will give a tool tip about the selected tool. The information for the Phase Demolished / Hammer tool shown was accessed with a prolonged hover. You can access even more information by pressing F1.
The demolition tool should be used in conjunction with the Phasing set of tools within Revit where we allocate a portion of time to a view and the use the demolition option to tell the software at which points elements will be demolish and removed from site.
If you consistently work with projects that involve demolition, create plan views set to Existing Phase in the project template. This helps save time in creating plans of existing conditions and demolition plans.
