If you’ve installed the Civil 3D 2015 Productivity Pack 1 (from the Autodesk Subscription Center) you will have noticed quite a few new tools. One of my favourites is Create AutoCAD 3D Solids.
The tool comes in two parts:
- Create 3D Solids from Surface
- Create 3D Solids form Pipe Networks
These new features are particularly useful if you wish to take your design into Navisworks for further analysis as surfaces can be given a solid depth. Alternatively a solid can be created between two surfaces. Converting pipe networks to solids is achieved by simply selecting the desired parts.
