When it comes to annotation of pipework, different companies or people have different standards or preferred ways of displaying the text. Some may want to show both units and a symbol for the pipe, not show either, or only show one of these in certain places. There are a few settings you can play with, or use a combination of these, to get what you want.
First is the Project Units, this will affect all piping:
The Diameter symbol is controlled in the Mechanical Settings, this again will affect the entire project:
Finally so that only a tag is affected, diameter has to be added as a label, so that its format can be changed to change the symbol. A suffix can also be added here:
