Recently whilst talking to a customer, the question was raised about the changing of text case within AutoCAD site plans. Users were editing text manually within drawings to uppercase. I mentioned that there is a much easier way to do this within full AutoCAD by making use of the Express tools which have been included in AutoCAD for many years.
The change text case express tool makes use of Lisp and permits users to select objects by any standard method and then change those elements to the desired format.
Change Case will work on a range of annotation elements including Text, Multiline Text, Attributes and Dimensions. Once the selection has been made, a dialogue showing the different format options and upon clicking ok the changes are made.
AutoCAD LT however does not have any Express Tools, there are some ways of changing text formatting on text objects and I will discuss this in a future post.
