When producing drawings which contain elements that are obscured by other items standard drawing practice is that the obscured items are indicated with a hidden line style.
Revit does some of this hidden line application automatically for structural elements in structural views and building services elements in their respective engineering views.
However, for architectural and coordination disciplines, the hidden line generation must be applied as a manual process. The hidden line function works not just for model-based items but for detail components too.
In a wireframe style view, click on show hidden lines command, select the obscuring element and then the elements where the hidden line style is to be shown. This will be applied once the view has been set to the default hidden line mode (Shortcut – HL)
