Does your project browser look like the image below?
When you open a project and see the views disorganised in such a way, it’s a pretty clear sign that the model is badly managed. This blog will outline an easy way to organise your project browser.
View Type Names
Using classification parameters is a great way to organise your views, but adds a layer of complexity that might confuse new users. A more straight-forward approach is to create multiple view types. Check out the categories created for floor plans below.
To create such an organisational system, you will have to duplicate the view types. First, select any floor plan view and click Edit Type. Next, click on Duplicate and rename the view type. Include a number prefix, so the views are correctly numbered and ordered sequentially in the project browser.
Repeat the process for all the view types.
Duplicate and Name Floor Plan Type
In the type selector dropdown menu, you can pick between the view types you’ve created:
This is how you should create your organising scheme: Sort by Family, then by type. Job done; no custom parameters are required.
