I recently discussed methodologies on automatic location file locations on plotted or issued drawing sheets in AutoCAD. Autodesk Revit has a similar built-in parameter that will show the location of the original authorising document. The feature is very similar to the MS Office function where the software can display various bits of information on a document and should settings or actions on the document change, Revit’s file path parameter will automatically synchronise to suit.
To achieve this when editing or creating a Title sheet family, create a label linking to the file path parameter. Set the font and size as desired.
Once loaded into a project and the file saved, the drive mapping, file path and name will display as shown.
Unlike AutoCAD there is no obvious out of the box options for customising what is seen i.e. Truncating drive mapping, directories and extensions etc.
However, by utilising the Dynamo scripting environment, this is possible. I will discuss this process in a future post.
