On installation of the more recent versions of Revit, I have noticed that sometimes the “Key-In Short Cuts” are not automatically installed.
Providing there is access to a version of the “KeyboardShortcuts.XML” file, this can be loaded or reloaded into Revit.
Start Revit and open either an existing or new project.
Select the “File” Tab, as shown in Figure 1.
Select “Options” at the bottom of the fly out to display the “Options” dialogue box, as shown in Figure 2.
From the categories list on the left side of the dialogue, select “User Interface”, as shown in Figure 3.
Select the “Customize” button next to the description “Keyboard Shorts”, as shown in Figure 4.
The “Keyboard Shortcuts” dialogue is displayed as shown in Figure 5.
Note: - In this example no shortcuts are displayed.
At the bottom of dialogue select “Import”. The “Import Keyboard Shortcuts File” dialogue is now displayed.
Navigate to the location of the “Shortcuts” XML file, and select “Open”, the “Import Keyboard Shortcut” alert dialogue box is displayed, as shown in Figure 6.
Two options are available, the “Shortcut” list can either be “Merged” into the existing shortcut list or the current list can be overridden.
The Key-In Shortcuts have now been installed.
