This applies to the most recent versions of AutoCAD, and not just 2020, with “Hatching” areas, the user can select several areas by picking points within the closed areas, this will create one “Hatch” object, as shown in Figure 1.
“Hatching” several areas using this method can be quick, but it does mean that all the picked “Hatched” areas become one item, which may lead to complications should individual “Hatched” areas requires deletion or modification. One solution would be to create separate hatches, but this may be time consuming.
However individual hatch patterns can be produced on creation.
To create individual hatch patterns, select the “Hatch” command to display the context “Hatch” ribbon tab, expand the hatch “Options” panel and select “Create Separate Hatches”, when turned “On” the function has a blue background, as shown in Figure 2.
This function can either be set prior to the selection of the “Hatch” boundary areas to produce separate hatch areas, or it can be used to convert a number of previously selected hatched areas that have been created as one object and reduce then to separate objects.
Once changed this setting is applied to any new file.
