On a previous post: https://www.cadlinecommunity.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/360002247977-Revit-Importing-Custom-hatch-fill-Pattern-Styles , I talked about how a hatch pattern can be created in Revit using notepad. However, it can be a difficult and tedious process, getting the correct format and syntax.
However, there is an easier method; use AutoCAD!
AutoCAD has some useful hatch pattern definitions that do not exist with some of the out of the box Revit templates. But they can be easily transferred by performing the following tasks.
Within AutoCAD, create a swatch of desired hatch patterns like the image below;
I created a series of boxes about 250mm in size and adjusted scales to achieve a similar pattern density. Once the drawing is saved, start Revit and create a new legend view, and name it, AutoCAD Hatch Patterns or similar
Within this legend view import the saved AutoCAD hatch pattern drawing and explode it.
The explode process converts the AutoCAD hatch objects to Revit fill patterns. The elements will need to be renamed but it is only a once only process and doesn’t take too long to do. Once completed these fill patterns can be assigned to filled region styles or materials as desired.
