For accurate quantity calculations it is advisable to model accurately. The image below shows two scenarios. On the left of the dashed line, the vertical walls are cutting through the floor slabs (inaccurate modelling).
By using the attach top base tool, we can quickly tidy up the wall / slab junctions.
Just select a wall, and then select the Attach Top/Base tool. Finally select the slab above the wall. The wall now connects properly to the underside of the floor slab. Select the wall again and check its properties. You will see that the top constraint now has a negative offset equal to the floor slab thickness.
Tip: Best practice is to set constraints accurately before placing walls so that they always meet the underside of the slab above.
