The Revit 2023.1 update has introduced many useful quality of life improvements for users. One feature requested by many designers was the ability to swap a view on a sheet for another view and retain its position on the sheet.
This can be done either from the ribbon panel or the properties palette. By selecting a view on a sheet, users have 2 options; swap the view using the centre of the viewport as a reference, which is the default option, or there is also an option to utilise the view origin, which is very useful for plan views and keeping equivalent geometry aligned across different sheets.
It is possible for users to swap the current view with any other compatible view directly from the view list in the properties or from the ribbon. The view list can be filtered and specific views searched for, like other Revit dialogues.
If the viewport contains a view title when being swapped, users are offered the option to preserve the original title size and position. Alternatively, the size and position are updated to match the new view. If the selected view is already on another sheet, a prompt asks if you want to remove the view from the other sheet and move it to the current sheet.
Certain views like Legends and Graphical Column Schedules can only be swapped out with other views of the same type.
Users can now remove multiple views from a sheet using the Remove from Sheet Command. When removing two or more views, a confirmation dialog displays and users can confirm if they always wish to remove multiple views. Another function introduced with the 2023.1 release is the ability to open multiple views and sheets from the project browser. Simply perform a multiple select function on a series of views or sheets and access the relevant command from a context right-click menu.
