Alt + Drag
Here’s another little time saving tip in Inventor assemblies. I learned this one from Chris Turner a few years back, and it is one of my favourite tips and tricks.
It’s difficult explain, as you can’t really see my keyboard or how I am selecting what is on screen, BUT it’s really simple.
If you hold down ALT and then drag (hold down your left mouse button) geometry it will create a constraint, based on the geometry that you select, the animation below shows how I have placed an insert constraint.

Note that the Alt + Drag workflow will create the following Constraints, Mate, Tangent and Insert
