Select “Stair” from the “Circulation” panel of the “Architecture” tab, as shown in Figure 1.

Draw a “Line” the length of the “Riser”, for example 1000, this will be the “Actual Run Width”.
The “Riser” will be displayed in Black. Revit will display the number of “Risers Created” and also the number of “Risers Remaining”, as shown in Figure 4.

By default, the “Stair” is be created from the current “Level” (Level 0) to the next “Level” up, in this case “Level 1”, since the distance between the two “Levels” is 4m. Revit calculates the number of “Risers” required between the two levels.
Using the “Offset” command, set the “Offset” distance to 250 (the depth of the “Stair” tread), make sure the “Copy” box is ticked.
Create the required number of “Risers” from “Level 0” to the start of the “Winder”.
Select “Boundary” from the “Modify | Create > Sketch Run”, as shown in Figure 5.

Create the “Boundaries” of the “Stair Fight”. The “boundaries will appear in green, it’s important that these lines are drawn from the bottom of the “Stair Fight” to the top of the “Winder”.
Staying in the draw “Boundaries” option, draw the “Boundary” lines to represent the outer edge of the “Winder”, as shown in Figure 6.

Switch back to the “Riser” option and add the “Risers” to represent the treads in the “Winder”. This could be either 2 or 3 “Risers”.
Using the “Offset” command create the final “Riser” for the second “Stair Flight”.
To complete draw the “Boundary Lines” for the second flight, from the top of the “Winder” to the top of the flight as shown in Figure 7.

From the “Modify | Create Stair > Sketch Run” tab select “Stair Path” and add the “Stair Path Lines” as shown in Figure 8.

In the “Modify | Create Stair > Sketch Run” tab select the “Green Tick” to confirm “Sketch” changes.
In the “Modify | Create Stair” tab select the “Green Tick” to confirm the “Stair Model”.
If the “Error” dialogue box is displayed as below in Figure 9.
A component of the “Stair” cannot be created, in this case it’s the “Stringer / Carriage”, to resolve this select the “Expand” button to display the error as in Figure 10.

Check the box below the “Error” and then select “Delete Checked”.
Finally select the “Green Tick” in the “Modify | Create Stair” tab to complete.
View the “Stair Model” in 3D.
Select the “Stair”, from the “Modify | Stair” tab select “Edit Stair”, in the “Properties” dialogue box, remove the “Tick” in the “End with Riser” field to complete, select all “Green Ticks”.
To remove the “Right Support on the lower flight, select the “Stair” and select “Edit Type” from the “Properties” dialogue, in the “Supports” rollout set the “Right Support” to “None”.
The finished “Stair” is shown in Figure 11.
