Positioning a Revit model so it reads as real-world coordinates is not the easiest task to achieve for Revit users and the process is certainly not the best documented, help menus included.
I have written a white paper that goes through the process(es) that are required to locate a project in real world terms, the document also considers some of the newer workflows to integrate a Revit model with a Civil 3D project.
