Did You Know?
Using RevitSHARE you can easily search for and find any Revit File in your SharePoint repository. You can also use multiple search options to make your searching as accurate as needed.
How?
RevitSHARE is a plugin tool for Revit and allows you to store, retrieve, update and manage all your organisations Revit Files in your SharePoint repository.
Using the File Search tool, you can search for any Revit file in your SharePoint repository using any number of configurable criteria.
Having clicked File Search, the File Search window appears.
Before we run a Search, choose which SharePoint directory to search against.
The to undertake a File Search, use the Filter options to define the query that will search for the Files matching your criteria. The filter options include:
• Property – the metadata field for your SharePoint files e.g. Title, Owner, Client, File Size
• Operator – does it begin with, contain, equal, or is it less than, greater than etc…
• Value – type the values that you wish to search for
• Conjunction – allows you to add additional search criteria
File Search – By Name
In this example we will search for files where their Name begins with C.
• Property = Name
• Operator = Begins with
• Value = C
Having chosen the search options press the Play button to run the query.
Once the query runs, the files that match your search criteria are listed in the table below the search options.
To open one of the result records, select it from the list and choose the Open button.
Your chosen SharePoint Revit file is then opened and accessible in Revit.
You can also search using multiple criteria!
File Search – Contains the word Option and Created by specific User.
In this example we will search for files where the Name contain the words Option AND are Created by a specific User
• Property = Name
• Operator = Contains
• Value = Option
• AND
• Property = Created By
• Operator = Begins with
• Value = Dennis Colin
Firstly, set the first search criteria to search by Name where it Contains the word Option.
…. Now choose the Add filter button to add a second search criteria.
The second search option will open below the first search criteria, with the search options set to the default options.
Complete the second filter setting the criteria to search Created By where it Begins with a certain username. As we have chosen to search using Created By, instead of typing a free text value, you can utilise a LIST of options.
Once we have completed the second search option, we now have two queries and because we have chosen the Conjunction to be AND, both criteria must be met in the files we search for.
Having chosen the search options press the Play button to run the query.
Once the query runs, the files that match your search criteria are listed in the table below the search options.
To open one of the result records, select it from the list and choose the Open button.
