Object Styles
You can use object styles to control the appearance of components and subcomponents. Object styles are applied in every view and can be overridden in a particular view by modifying the Visibility/Graphics settings.
Object styles allow you to control the appearance of multiple component types.
For example, there are often multiple door types within a project. In a plan view, you might want to show the door swing for all your doors with a dashed line and a particular colour or lineweight. This can be done in the Object Styles dialogue box by creating a Style Subcategory for the door swing.
Create Object Style Subcategories
- Click Manage tab > Settings panel > object Styles.
- Click the Model Objects, Annotation Objects, or Imported Objects tab.
- In the Object Styles dialog under Modify Subcategories, click New.
- In the New Subcategory dialog, enter a name.
- Select the Category for Subcategory of.
- Click OK.
The change is global, it applies to all door types – single, double, or whatever type. So now you can control different types of object styles inside your project without going into the Family Editor.
