Revit has had the Ribbon menu environment for many years, but I still receive questions on a variety of display issues encountered. A typical question is, How do I unminimize the Ribbon? This can happen quite easily with newer Revit users who accidently double click on certain parts of the screen, marked in red below. When the Ribbon is minimised, the buttons disappear, and commands can only be accessed via tabs or keyboard shortcuts.
Users typically expect a more featured ribbon as below.
To regain the default Revit interface, click on the Ribbon toggle until the expected layout appears.
Another issue that is reported is that Panel titles are not showing. For example, for the main architectural tools, the panel should have a title called ‘Build’, Ductwork should have a section called ‘HVAC’. This omission can also be addressed by right mouse clicking the grey background portion of the ribbon and enable ‘Show Panel Titles’.
Although you cannot customise the Revit interface to a great extent it is possible to suppress certain panel tabs via the Options menu. Within that dialogue, access the User interface section and ensure that all of the relevant tabs and subsidiary options are enabled. If the contextual tab upon selection is not working, ensure that toggle is enabled as well.
