Dimension Properties
To satisfy organisational demands, conform to industry standards, or to add clarity to your drawings you can customise the appearance of dimensions.
Use the Type Properties dialogue box if you want to modify or create a new Dimension Type.
It is useful to incorporate a naming convention for all the Dimension Types you create and use in your Revit Project, because you may end up with more Types than you originally intended.
Some useful parameters are:
• Graphics extent.
Dimension String Type.
Tick Mark.
• Text extent.
Text size.
• Primary & Alternate Units extents.
You can display alternate dimension units along with the primary project units for all types of permanent and spot dimensions. For example, you can show imperial and metric units simultaneously in a dimension string.
The illustrations above show the settings that can be edited for a 2.5mm Linear Dimension Style. Remember to duplicate and rename each dimension style that you create so that you don’t lose the original format.
