Have you ever created a new style in AutoCAD Civil 3D and wanted to set that as the default? The sequence below describes changing the default style for adding spot level labels to a surface.

Toolspace / Settings / Surface / Commands / AddSurfaceSpotElevLabel / Edit Command Settings
Open Default Styles and set the Surface Spot Level Label Style to be your desired style.
