During a recent training course on Revit Architecture a delegate asked how I knew what base offset was required for the cavity wall to cover a floor slab edge at ground floor level.
By selecting the floor slab, you can check its thickness in the Properties Palette.
This tells us that we need to give the wall a base offset of -480mm at ground level.
The floor slab edge is now neatly covered by the cavity wall.
Tip: When you select elements in Revit such as a floor slab get into the habit of checking information about the element that you have selected in the properties palette. In the first illustration in this blog you can see lots of information about the selected floor slab.
