Revit has for many years had the ability to split wall elements with a gap, which is very useful when modelling in an architectural or structural discipline. However, it wasn’t possible to do this with any of MEP elements. With the recent release of Revit 2023.1 this is now possible. Users can now split MEP elements including duct, pipe, conduit, cable tray and straight segments of MEP fabrication ductwork, pipework and containment.
In the options bar a gap distance can be set as you could previously when splitting walls. This was a common request from MEP users and is a welcome addition to Revit’s ever-increasing toolset. There is still a long way to go however, but every little improvement helps!
