For some time now Alignments have been a Navisworks shortfall, but that has now changed. In Navisworks 2024 you can define the length and location of corridors in models, such as a roadways, railways, channels, or an airport runway.
- This version supports Civil 3D to improve detail quality and collaboration.
- Aggregate the model within Navisworks and create 3D alignments to review.
- Improved DWG & NWC integration of Civil 3D models for coordination.
- The ability to customise the frame aspect to navigate the alignment and section view.
Alignments are objects created in Autodesk Civil 3D that form the main coordinate system for the transportation industry sectors such as highways, Rail and Waterways. They are a series of 2D coordinates (northings and eastings), connected by lines, curves, or spirals, that are used to represent features such as road centrelines, edges of pavements, sidewalks, or rights-of-way.
The new Civil Alignments are easy to configure and use.
When you open a Civil 3D DWG file, or an NWC file exported from Civil 3D, either directly in Navisworks or using the Coordination Issues Add-in, any alignments in the models are brought in and displayed in Navisworks. Within Navisworks, you can view and navigate the alignments using various camera controls and simulate driving though the model following the alignment.
