When creating cutting tools in Fusion 360 it’s possible to create multiple material entries for cutting data (Feeds & Speeds).
Before, you would have to create separate tool libraries for different materials, which could result in a lot of libraries having to be created.
With Fusion 360 you have the ability when creating tools that you can create different cutting data parameters to suit different materials you want to machine.
In the tool library, when we look at cutting data, we can see we have multiple entries. See below: -
We can add new materials by clicking on the + Icon, see below: -
We then have to type in the new material, see below: -
Once we have done this we can see that we have created a new material in the cutting data. See below: -
All we need to do now is change the Speed/Feedrates/Vertical feedrates and Passes and linking data to suit the material the cutting tool is going to be cutting. See below: -
The boxes shown in green Surface speed and Feed per tooth are data you should be able to get from your tooling supplier and once they have been entered this will update your Spindle speed and Cutting feedrate. Once we are happy with our cutting data we can then click on the Accept button. See below: -
This cutting data can be selected in your machining strategies from here: -
Material type can be selected from Preset on the tool tab. Once this has been selected the cutting tool data for that material is selected.
