The text below does overlap some of the information covered in the previous blog, however it does show alternative access with some fine-tuning functions. The next option in the menu is “Input Search Options”, as shown in Figure 1.
Selecting this option will display the dialogue box, as shown in Figure 2.
“AutoComplete”, “AutoCorrect”, “Search System Variables”, “Search Content” and “Enable Mid-String Search” can also be changed from this dialogue box, with some additional options.
“AutoComplete” can be disabled via this dialogue box, removing the tick will automatically disable “Enable Mid-String Search”. Using the default settings, the “Command Line” will display AutoCAD commands and “System Variables” that either start or contain the typed letters. The commands and “System Variables” can either be sorted “According To Frequency Of Use”, which is the default or “Alphabetically” as shown in Figure 3.
“AutoCorrect” is turned on by default and controls how the lists of commands and “System Variables” are compiled, by second guessing the function the user requires as the user types.
“Remember Corrections After (N) Mistypes” - this function is only available if “AutoCorrect” is turned “On”. This option allows the user to set the number of mistypes, the default being “3”, as shown in Figure 4.
If the same mistype is made over the set number, the mistype is saved, so the mistype can be recognised as the required function. This list is continually being updated over time. The type error is added to a text file. This file can be edited by the user to add possible type errors and will be covered in a later blog.
“Search System Variables” is turned on by default, by removing the tick from the check box, the search list will only display AutoCAD commands and not “System Variables”, as shown in Figure 5.
“Separate Commands and System Variables” is only available if the command above, “Search System Variables” is turned on, as shown in Figure 6.
Using the default options, if both boxes are checked the suggestion list will display both “Commands” and “System Variables” as shown in Figure 7.
Removing the tick in the check box, “Separate Commands and System Variables” will separate AutoCAD commands and “System Variable” lists.
Pressing the “Tab” key will allow the user to cycle between the AutoCAD “Command” and “System Variable” lists, as shown in Figure 8.
“Delay Time”, the amount of time required until the command list is displayed can also be adjusted via this dialogue box, as shown in Figure 9.
“Search Content At Command Line” - by default the box is checked, allowing AutoCAD content to be shown at the “Command Line”, as shown in Figure 10.
The user can control the type and order of the displayed content in the “Command Line”.
Note: - “Visual Styles” are not included in AutoCAD LT.
In most cases the default setting are suitable, however the above does show how the user can change the setting depending on their own personnel requirements.
