Traditionally, electrical CAE users would insert a symbol and then assign a part within a schematic. Mapping a symbol to a catalogue part allows you to pick the part from the catalogue database to place the symbol i.e. the other way round. As there are several international libraries available within AutoCAD Electrical, the mapping of symbols to the catalogue database is unique to each company. This is a fantastic feature especially when you know the manufacturer’s parts you wish to utilise, and this once again speeds up the design process.
The following video shows you how to associate a symbol with a catalogue part and vice-versa.
