Did You Know?
Using CadSHARE you can easily view and update the Properties for any AutoCAD Drawing in your SharePoint repository.
How?
CadSHARE is a plugin tool for AutoCAD and allows you to store, retrieve, update and manage all your organisations AutoCAD Drawing Files in your SharePoint repository.
To view or edit the Properties of an AutoCAD Drawing file within your SharePoint instance, choose the CadSHARE Open tool.
The Open window will appear, listing the current AutoCAD Drawing files in each folder of your SharePoint instance.
If there is a DWG that you wish to view or edit the Properties of, simply select it from the list > right click and choose Properties.
The Drawing Properties form will then open for the chosen DWG file.
You can click on the Property heading to re-order the available fields.
Using the Value field, you can update some of the Properties, such as the field called Title.
Once you have edited the Properties, choose the Save button and a message will confirm that the Properties have been updated.
If we now view the same DWG in SharePoint, we can see that the Title value has been updated accordingly.
You may have a column in your SharePoint that is not currently listed in the Properties pane. For example, in this SharePoint site we have a field called Purpose.
To add this as a Tag in the CadSHARE Properties pane choose the Edit Property Display box.
This will open a list of the available SharePoint fields. The ones ticked are already available within the Properties pane.
Scroll down the list to find the new field – Purpose – then tick this field so that it will be added for display and press OK.
The new field – Purpose – is now added to the Property list, so we can now enter a value for this field and press Save to commit the changes.
Again, if we re-view the DWG in SharePoint we can see that the Purpose value has been updated.
The CadSHARE plugin therefore provides your users with a simple way to view and update Properties for their AutoCAD Drawing Files stored within SharePoint.
