Once a hatch pattern has been added to a drawing, its properties including “Scale”, “Layer”, “Colour” and “Rotation” can be painted across to an existing pattern within the same drawing, using the “Match Properties” command located in the “Home” tab of the ribbon menu, as shown in Figure 1.

However, if an area is not currently hatched, the “Match Properties” command will not paint the selected “Hatch” to an empty space.
To overcome this, use the “Match Properties” or “Use the Current Origin Point” command in the context sensitive “Hatch Creation” tab, as shown in Figure 2.

This command is also located at the bottom of the “Hatch” dialogue box and has the description “Inherit Properties” as shown in Figure 3.

This function will use the “Properties” of the selected hatch pattern, provided the area to be “Hatched” has no gaps in the boundary, picking a point within the boundary will add hatch to the empty area.
Using this function also helps with draw continuity and standardisation.
