This follows my previous blog relating to “Importing Text from a Word Document”. The imported text is now an AutoCAD object, and it can be edited using AutoCAD’s “Text Editor”. Figure 1 below, shows the sample imported text.
Notice that even though the current “Layer” is Text, and has the colour set to 140 which is a medium blue, the imported text remains “white”, and has not taken on the colour of the current layer.
When the text is imported, regardless of the current layer and its “Layer” properties, the imported “Text” has its property set to “By Block”, so it remains “White”.
To update the “Text” object so it takes on the colour of the designated “Text” layer, double click on the “Text” object to access the “Text Editor” as shown in Figure 2.
From the Text Editor, notice that the “TextColour” is set to “ByBlock”, this explains why the “Text” is displayed “White”.
So that the “Text” object can take on the colour of the required “Layer”, highlight the text that is required to be changed to the colour of the “Layer”, as shown in Figure 3.
Select the “Colour Drop Down” arrow and change the “Colour” to “ByLayer”, as shown in Figure 4.
The selected “Multiline Text” will now take up the colour of the current “Layer”.
This option will also allow different selected text to have different “Colours” within the same “Multiline” text object, as shown in Figure 5.
